Respiratory Care Practitioner - Urbana, Illinois

Job Description

  • Disassemble, wash, rinse, dry, and package respiratory equipment
  • Evaluate patient respiratory care outcomes according to care plans
  • Serve as a role model demonstrating clinical judgment, technical skills, and knowledge in respiratory care
  • Prepare, test, and check respiratory therapy equipment for safe operation and routine service
  • Report malfunctioning equipment to management
  • Process and maintain respiratory equipment
  • Accurately document respiratory care on flow sheets and care plans in the EMR
  • Complete assessments on ventilator patients and other respiratory care patients
  • Recommend timely interventions and further treatment or referrals as needed
  • Record procedures, patient responses, and compliance with sleep therapy documentation
  • Consult with Respiratory Care Practitioners regarding adverse effects and equipment compliance
  • Communicate relevant information in writing to physicians
  • Evaluate patients for routine respiratory care therapy in inpatient units and Emergency Room
  • Obtain and analyze arterial, venous, and capillary blood gases
  • Assist with cleaning respiratory care equipment and stocking supplies on inpatient units

Required Skills & Experience

  • Solid understanding of all aspects of respiratory care

Education Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy

Certifications & Licensure

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
  • NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist
