Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist (Travel/Contract)
Location: Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania

Contract Length: 18 weeks
Job Description
- Requires PA or compact PT license
- Schedule: Monday to Friday; ideally 3 day shifts and 2 night shifts (night shifts end by 7 PM)
- No weekend or holiday requirements
- No on-call duties
- Floating may be required to East Stroudsburg Rehab
- Preferred: 3 years outpatient PT experience; first-time travelers accepted with appropriate experience
- Skillset Required: Outpatient Orthopedics
- Skillset Preferred: Neurology, Hand therapy
- Charting system: EPIC
- Dress code: Pewter colored polo top and black/navy khakis
- Average weekly census: ~50 visitors
- BLS and CPR certification required
Required Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA certified required for all clinical staff
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for certain units (verify applicability)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required if working in pediatric or ER settings
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for L&D and NICU roles
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Required for ER and Pediatric ER (TCRN accepted if TNCC unavailable)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Required for L&D, must be AWHONN certified
- National Certification/Verification – Prior to facility start and upon expiration, as applicable
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement – Annual update required
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – Basic Dysrhythmia exam required annually for clinical candidates (exceptions apply)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – Required for RNs, passing score 80%
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam – Required annually for clinical candidates (exceptions apply), passing score 88%
Licensure & Background Checks
- Primary source verification of state license required prior to start and upon expiration
- Background checks required within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
- SSN Trace
- Counties, States, Nationwide Criminal Search
- Sex Offender Search
- DMV check (if driving is essential)
- Education Verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Fingerprint Clearance required within 90 days of start (all pages must be submitted)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search required within 90 days of start
- Pennsylvania PATCH and Medicheck Search Results required within 90 and 30 days respectively
- Education verification required for highest level of education
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 months of start
- Fit test questionnaire and respirator clearance (if applicable)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (QGold, T-Spot, or 2 PPDs) within required timeframes
- Required immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive antibody titer or completed vaccine series; declinations not accepted)
- Varicella
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel or 9-panel (without THC) within 60 days of start; observed drug screen required if dilute result
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination with required documentation
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for new candidates starting October through May (declination allowed only under specific conditions with documentation)
Additional Requirements
- Minimum of 2 professional references from employment within 12 months of start
- Complete employment application including 7 years of work history with explanations for gaps over 90 days
- Work history verification required for non-clinical and remote candidates
- Facility-specific documents such as photo for badge and affidavit for provisional employment required prior to start
- Annual updates and renewals required for certain certifications and health documents
Summary
This is a travel/contract Physical Therapist position in outpatient orthopedics with a flexible weekday schedule including day and night shifts. The role requires a PA or compact PT license, BLS and CPR certifications, and experience in outpatient PT preferred but first-time travelers with appropriate experience are accepted. No weekend, holiday, or on-call duties. Comprehensive background checks, health screenings, and immunizations are mandatory. Charting is done in EPIC, and floating to a nearby rehab facility may be required.
Note: All certifications, background checks, and health requirements must be completed and verified according to facility and state guidelines prior to or shortly after assignment start.
