Description
Travel RN Medical/Surgical Position
Location: Murfreesboro, Tennessee
Specialty: RN Medical/Surgical

Unit Capacity: 36 Beds
Patient Population: Adult and geriatric medical/surgical patients (ages 18 - 60+)
Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:6
Staffing and Responsibilities
- Variable staffing includes RNs, LPNs, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Interns (NIs)
- RN assumes full responsibility for patients on each team
Required Certifications and Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (must be AHA)
- Successful completion of a rhythm test
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- Current nursing license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Ascension Medical Surgical Exam (minimum 80% score, 2 attempts allowed)
- Ascension Color Vision test (updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly)
- NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
- Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% score, 2 attempts allowed)
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
- Ascension Nova StatStrip training
- Ascension Cerner Test-Out
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical only, completed within one year of start, updated annually)
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
- Ascension Education Verification (within 90 days of start)
- Ascension Confirmation of Assignment (provided upon initial assignment and updates)
- Ascension Employment Verification (past 7 years, updated annually)
- Criminal Background Check (including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender; updated annually)
- EPLS check (within 90 days of start)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted but mask required
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred prior to start, updated annually
- Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire or IGRA test results
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) within 30 days of start
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history; no declinations accepted
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
Additional Information
- Flu season mask policy applies for 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons
- Post-assignment evaluation survey required within 72 hours of assignment completion (optional)
- Driver’s License/State ID must be current and match address requirements
- Headshot photo required (white or blue background, no filters)
