Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialist
Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in both neonatal and pediatric units based on facility needs.
- Must have at least 1 year experience in a Level 3 or higher NICU or a minimum of 1 year PICU experience.
- Minimum 2 years of overall experience required.
- First-time travelers are welcome.
- No on-call duties.
- Return to Office (RTO) requests must be approved by the facility.
- State license required.
- Certifications required:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Required Background Checks
- Comprehensive background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check upon hire.
- HHS/OIG check upon hire.
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Fingerprinting within 90 days of start (required for all except remote workers living outside PA).
- Education verification for highest level of education related to specialty.
- Pennsylvania State-specific searches including Child Abuse Search, PATCH, Medicheck, and others within specified timeframes.
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP certifications must be current and from approved organizations (AHA, AAP, AWHONN, etc.).
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required if working in ER or Pediatric ER (TCRN acceptable if TNCC unavailable).
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) required for Labor & Delivery staff.
- National certification/verification prior to start and upon expiration as applicable.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement and Pass/Fail Testing (Basic Dysrhythmia exam) required annually with a minimum passing score of 88%.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required for all RN candidates (passing score 80%).
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required annually for clinical candidates (passing score 88%).
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 months of start.
- Fit test questionnaire and fit mask test (not required for 100% remote non-clinical).
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with specific timing requirements; annual TB questionnaire if applicable.
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declinations not accepted)
- Varicella
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel or 9-panel (without THC) within 60 days of start; observed drug screens required if dilute results occur.
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination with required documentation (not required for 100% remote non-clinical).
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for new candidates starting October through May, with exemptions allowed under specific conditions.
- Respirator safety clearance required annually for respirator use starting 04/07/2025.
Facility Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (new candidates starting 3/31/2025 and later).
- Badge request form (time sensitive for new candidates starting before 3/30/2025).
- Affidavit for provisional employment prior to start.
- COVID and flu vaccine declination forms if applicable.
Employment History & References
- Minimum of 2 professional references from employment within the last 12 months.
- Complete employment application including 7 years of work history with explanations for gaps over 90 days.
- Work history verification required for non-clinical and remote candidates.
This position requires strict adherence to all background checks, certifications, health documents, and facility-specific requirements to ensure compliance and clearance for assignment.
