Job Description

• Perform computerized axial tomography (CT) procedures and assigned invasive procedures by acquiring and processing patient exams according to department protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
• Independently perform multiplanar reformats and 3D rendered images.
• Review cases with radiologists when appropriate.
• Review labs and patient history to ensure correct exam performance.
• Administer IV contrast, oral, and rectal contrast as appropriate.
• Recognize and respond to adverse or allergic reactions.
• Screen patients for pregnancy and perform pregnancy testing if applicable.
• Ensure patient, visitor, and environmental safety; report safety events immediately, including near misses.
• Assist in instruction of students and new staff as needed.
• May perform duties of CT Lead or Imaging Coordinator in their absence.
• Meet productivity levels established by department benchmarks.
• Assist other areas during downtimes to maintain productivity.
• May perform duties in other modalities within the department if licensed/certified.
• Comply with job descriptions of cross-trained modalities as applicable.
• Review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy.
• Review patient history and clinical data for medical necessity; acquire additional information if needed.
• Critique imaging quality standards including positioning, technical factors, and alignment.
• Transfer and verify image data in PACS; provide necessary medical history for radiologist interpretation.
• Use web server/EA viewer and email system to send exams for preliminary readings after hours.
• Maintain imaging equipment and workplace environment, including supply inventories and orderliness.
• Recognize and report equipment malfunctions and service needs promptly.

Required Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated technical expertise in radiology.
• Positive attitude with willingness to assess and improve the work environment.
• Ability to multitask while coordinating patient flow and various technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative.

Education Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Related Field or Certificate in Radiologic Technology

Required Certifications & Licensure

• IEMA Radiography License
• Radiography (R)(ARRT) OR Nuclear Medicine Tech Certification (NMTCB)
• Computed Tomography (CT)(ARRT)
• BLS (American Heart Association)
