Job Opportunity: RN Labor and Delivery
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility Overview
- Level IV perinatal center
- 15-bed Labor & Delivery unit
- 20-bed Antepartum unit
- 8-bed OB Triage
- Adheres to AWHONN staffing guidelines
- Brand new hospital, operational for 6 months
Required Credentials & Certifications
Licenses & Verification
- Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- Driver’s License/State ID (must be current and match address requirements)
Certifications (Must be AHA unless otherwise noted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP Advanced (Neonatal Resuscitation Program Advanced)
- Ascension Fetal Monitoring (if not covered on competency exam, must have AWHONN, Relias, or equivalent within past 2 years)
Exams & Competencies (Must be completed prior to start and updated as required)
- Ascension Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%, max 2 attempts)
- Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% or national benchmark, max 2 attempts)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80%, max 2 attempts)
- Ascension Color Vision Test
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical specialty, updated annually)
Onboarding Requirements
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
- Ascension Onboarding Education Attestation (6 hours pre-hire training)
- Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Influenza Vaccine (seasonal; exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred before start (annual update required)
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) with annual TB questionnaire
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
Professional Documentation
- Resume/Profile submission required
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment
- Criminal background check including SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, and national sex offender registry (updated annually)
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start
- Employment verification for past 7 years (updated annually)
- Confirmation of assignment documentation upon initial assignment and extensions
Optional / Additional Information
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) standard certification is optional
- Ascension Unit Specific Checklist is optional for onboarding but may be required by unit leader
- Positive PPD documentation and annual TB questionnaire are optional if applicable
- Hiring manager evaluation and name change documentation are optional
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs seeking a long-term assignment in a newly established Level IV perinatal center with comprehensive credentialing and onboarding requirements.
