Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVICCU RN)

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICCU) Registered Nurse
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 PM - 7 AM, nights)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Rotation: Yes
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, may float within scope to like units or sister facilities

Experience & Licensing Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
  • Cardiac experience required
  • South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be active prior to start
  • First-time travelers not accepted

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (American Heart Association or ARC only)
  • BLS (American Heart Association or ARC only)
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, TNCC, EFM) — verify with unit-specific job description

  • Acute Care Facility with 276 staffed beds

Scheduling & Hours

  • Block scheduling requests can be made but are not guaranteed
  • Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks

Important Notes

  • During hurricane season (June - November, peak in August and September), all staff including contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. New or extension assignments during this time should be considered carefully.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks & Verifications

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts may be required as placeholder if verification is pending
  • South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers check required for subcontractors

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30), medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
  • COVID-19 vaccinations highly preferred but not required; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Respirator medical clearance annually for patient-facing staff

Certifications & Licenses

  • Must have current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications valid beyond 30 days from start date
  • South Carolina RN license primary source verification required; walk-through/temp license option available for eligible candidates
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • IV Therapy certification required for select LPNs if applicable

Facility-Specific Documents & Orientation

  • Completion of First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay modules prior to start (approx. 4 hours for Florence)
  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge
  • Signed assignment acknowledgment, code of conduct, confidentiality agreements, HR policy manual, system user agreement, user access request, job description, HIPAA confidentiality agreement, and employee info forms required prior to start
  • MINI orientation review and acknowledgement required
  • Flu and COVID vaccination documentation must be uploaded into OurDay platform

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start
  • Complete employment application/resume
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Radiation badge required for certain departments (OR, Cath Lab, EP Lab, Radiology) but not for Ultrasound or Mammography techs
