Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVOR RN) - Columbus, Ohio

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Shift: Combination of 2 eight-hour shifts and 2 twelve-hour shifts, between 6:30 AM and 11:00 PM, including on-call hours.
  • Schedule: Flexible to meet staffing needs.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years in cardiac, vascular, and transplant nursing.
  • At least 1 year of CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience.
  • At least 1 year experience in a Level I Trauma facility.

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit.
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM).

Charting System

  • EPIC experience required.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting.
  • Monthly monitoring through EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG databases.
  • Education accreditation verification from recognized nursing accrediting bodies (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, CASN).
  • State license verification and NURSYS verification required.
  • Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending.

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire required annually.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with specific booster requirements if titers are low.
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination accepted).
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions require documentation).
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, opiates, etc.).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31).
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended.

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start.
  • Unit-specific competency exams required.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with remediation process if failed).

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment.
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting training and acknowledgment.
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment.
  • Proof of fingerprint completion required for subcontractors.
  • Background acknowledgement form required for subcontractors.
  • Employment application and skills checklist required.
  • Two professional references required (one must be from a manager or formal leader).

This position requires flexibility, specialized cardiac and trauma experience, and compliance with rigorous credentialing, background, and health requirements.
