Travel RN Medical/Surgical Position

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Travel


Job Summary

  • Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately.
  • Coordinate all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with healthcare team members.

  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
  • Follow Standard Precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Credentials & Compliance

Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Driver’s License/State ID (must be valid and match address requirements)

Exams & Testing

  • Ascension Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Medical Surgical Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80%, updated yearly)
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually)
  • 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)

Health & Immunizations

  • Ascension Color Vision test (updated every 3 years)
  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted
  • Fit Test (annual, preferred prior to start)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine (seasonal; exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 90 days of start
  • Varicella: Proof of immunity or two vaccines; no declinations accepted
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
  • Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually

Professional Requirements

  • Ascension Profile (resume or professional profile)
  • At least two professional references prior to first assignment
  • Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (within 30 days of assignment start, updated annually)
  • Employment Verification (third-party, past 7 years, updated annually)
  • Education Verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days of start)
  • Confirmation of Assignment documentation on agency letterhead

  • Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background required for badge photo.
  • Pre-hire onboarding modules and attestations must be completed prior to start.
  • Some requirements must be updated regularly or upon contract extension.
  • Certain documents and verifications must be uploaded or submitted as part of the onboarding process.

This position is ideal for experienced Medical/Surgical RNs comfortable working independently in a fast-paced hospital environment.
