Job Description

  • Perform all nursing responsibilities specific to the NICU unit and scope of service.
  • Implement procedures and theories related to neonatal care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
  • Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop individualized plans of care based on patient and family needs.
  • Implement and modify plans of care through continuous evaluation.
  • Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards and incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to resolve issues and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support professional development of peers and pursue own learning needs proactively.
  • Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
  • Monitor intake and output of neonatal patients.
  • Assist mothers with breastfeeding initiation and provide baby-friendly care.
  • Administer medications using proper barcode scanning procedures.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary rounds and report on patient assignments.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant nursing experience in NICU or similar setting.

Education Requirements

  • Required: ASN (Associate of Science in Nursing)
  • Preferred: BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)

Certifications & Licensure

  • Illinois State RN License in good standing
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - American Heart Association
