Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Tele) - Cleveland, Ohio

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse
  • Location: Cleveland, Ohio
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (Day/Night rotating shifts: 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
  • Shift rotation may be required to meet hospital operational needs.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.
  • Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate testing (passing scores required).

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.
  • Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted).
  • Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license.
  • Certifications required:
    • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIHSS Stroke Certification
  • Must pass background checks including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (code 4723.09 for nursing).
  • Must complete government-issued photo ID verification.
  • Must complete physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
  • Required immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption (required during flu season)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Fit mask test (N95) required within 12 months and updated annually.

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory.
  • Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome.
  • Candidates cannot skip training videos before tests.
  • SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for pass/fail medication and ECG testing during orientation.
  • Annual acknowledgment of safety manual and pass/fail testing required.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Background checks must be current and include:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monthly checks
    • Education verification (including international if applicable)
  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years in acute care and similar specialty.
  • Two professional references required from recent employment within one year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
  • State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared for fingerprinting both through the agency and at the facility.
  • Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 40 days may need to update physical exams, chest X-rays, and eye exams.
  • Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; declinations are not accepted.
  • Candidates must be aware that module completion is a high priority and delays may affect start date.
