Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Columbus, Ohio
Position Details
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts per week (weekends required)
- No Return to Office (RTO): From 2/22 to 2/28
- Floating: May be required between campuses
- Patient Ratio: Not applicable
- Equipment: GE Ventilators
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED acceptable)
- Previous travel experience preferred
Required Certifications (may vary by unit)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only, required on certain units
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for ER, ER OB, and ER Psych units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – Required for L&D, Post-Partum, OB
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – No 2-year expiration; use extended expiration
- NIH Stroke Certification – Required for most ICU, PCU, ED, and Brain & Spine units
- State License Verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification for RNs, LPN/LVNs, APs
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual)
- Tech Cert Verification (for Surgical Technologists and SPTs as applicable)
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Aya candidates only)
- Unit-Specific Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for all RNs within 1 year of start, updated annually; exceptions apply)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-Year Criminal Background Check within 90 days of start (including SS Trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide, sex offender, MVR if driving)
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required prior to start, with specific Ohio code 3701.881
- Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monthly monitoring
- Education accreditation confirmation required immediately after contract signing
- Transcript/Diploma verification required (High School diploma or equivalent for RRTs)
- Background acknowledgement form required for subcontractors
- Confidential Fraud Waste Abuse and Compliance Reporting Mechanism Form required for all candidates
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training Certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Ethics and Compliance Policies must be reviewed and signed annually (new contracts only)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
- TB Questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test renewal
- MMR Vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended; proof of primary vaccination collected if available
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references required (at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership)
- Employment application required (nursing candidates must include education)
- Skills checklist required
- Dress code and hand hygiene policy must be reviewed and signed
- Proof of fingerprint completion required (physical or photo proof depending on location)
This position requires adherence to strict credentialing, background, and health compliance standards. Candidates should be prepared for night shifts, weekend work, and possible floating between campuses. Previous travel experience and RRT certification are preferred.
