Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Jersey City, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Facility Type: Level 2 Trauma Center
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Call: 2 times per schedule
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of current acute care OR experience
- OR Skills: Must be able to circulate and scrub
- Specialty Experience Required:
- Robotic and ENT
- Orthopedic, vascular, general, thoracic, neuro surgeries
- Patient Mix: All OR specialties except Open Heart
- Charting System: EPIC
- Scrubs Provided
- First-time travelers accepted
Certifications & Licenses Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all RNs
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for RN Manager, ED, Adult Critical Care Units, MS/Tele, Outpatient Surgery, PCU, L&D; preferred for Behavioral Health
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for ED, Outpatient Surgery, PACU, PICU, Pediatrics
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for L&D, Mother-Baby, Newborn, NICU, Nursery, Antepartum, Special Care Nursery
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy Certification): Required as applicable for adult and pediatric chemo certified nurses
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Beginner level required for Mother-Baby/Couplet Care and L&D; Intermediate EFM required for L&D RNs
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB): Required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (online and in-person training required)
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for Adult Critical Care, ED, Tele, MS/Tele, Cath Lab units (updated annually)
- State License Verification: Must be current and match legal name (including suffixes)
- NURSYS Verification: Required as applicable
- Other Certifications: May be required depending on unit (e.g., Infection Control, Tech Certifications)
Required Documents & Compliance
- Work History: 7 years of work history required; 2 references within last 2 years (one managerial)
- Skills Checklist: Scrub and circulate skills checklist must be submitted and updated annually
- Background Checks: Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
- Drug Screen: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per facility requirements
- Immunizations and titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Fit test and respiratory clearance as applicable
- Latex allergy screening questionnaire if job tasks require glove use
- Competency Exams: Medication test, Dysrhythmia/EKG, and other competency exams required within 72 hours of signing; failure policies apply
- Orientation & Safety: Completion of annual education sign-off, OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission training required
- Facility Specific: Must complete floating policy, vendor medical clearance if history of positive TB, and other facility-specific documents prior to start
Additional Information
- Candidates must be able to circulate and scrub in the OR.
- Robotic and ENT experience is mandatory.
- Experience in orthopedic, vascular, general, thoracic, and neuro surgeries is required.
- Patient mix includes all OR specialties except open heart surgery.
- Scrubs are provided for the assignment.
- Charting is done using EPIC.
- First-time travelers are welcome.
- Call is required 2 times per schedule.
This position requires strict adherence to all credentialing, licensing, and compliance requirements as outlined above. Candidates must be prepared to submit all necessary documentation and complete required training prior to start.
