Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Technician
Location: Round Rock, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Role: Interventional scrub for a multimodality interventional suite including Cardiac Cath, Electrophysiology (EP), Interventional Radiology (IR), Vascular, and Neuro IR procedures.
- Preferred experience with documentation using Merge Hemo system.
- On-call requirement: 7 days on call including 1 weekend in every 4-week period.
Required Credentials & Compliance
Professional Credentials
- Current professional license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
- Ascension Resume/Profile required for submission.
- At least two professional references required prior to first assignment.
- Signed Assignment Agreement required before onboarding.
- Completion of Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years).
- Completion of Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly).
- Ascension Medical Imaging Contract Worker Onboarding Education Attestation (6 hours pre-hire training).
- Ascension Criminal Background Check (7-year search including SSN trace, employment verification, OIG, sex offender registry; updated annually or after >90 days break).
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service >90 days.
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, completed within one year of start, updated annually).
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service >90 days.
- Employment verification for past 7 years, updated annually or after >90 days break.
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation on agency letterhead with accurate start/end dates.
Licenses & Identification
- Valid, unexpired Driver’s License or State ID matching address on file. For out-of-state placements, address must match home state for compact license.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- BLS certification (American Heart Association).
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted. If negative titer, two doses of vaccine four weeks apart required.
- Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history; no declinations accepted. If negative, two doses of vaccine four weeks apart required.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite. PAPR not done onsite.
- 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): 1st PPD within 1 year, 2nd within 30 days of start, or negative IGRA within 90 days. TB questionnaire updated annually. Positive TB requires chest X-ray within 1 year and questionnaire.
- Positive PPD candidates must provide negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire (optional but recommended).
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start, updated annually. Includes testing for amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, PCP, methamphetamine, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, buprenorphine, methadone, oxycodone, morphine, and ecstasy. Must include MRO review for prescriptions or negative-dilute results.

- Onsite Medical Imaging Contract Worker Form completed and uploaded by facility (no pre-upload required).
- Optional: Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters).
- Optional: Hiring Manager Evaluation post-assignment.
- Optional: Legal documentation for name changes.
- Completion of an exit survey at assignment end (optional).
This position requires strict adherence to credentialing, licensing, health, and compliance standards prior to and during the assignment.
