Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work schedule: Four 12-hour night shifts (9:00 PM to 9:30 AM)
- Float between three campuses on an every-other-week (EOW) basis
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for ER, ICU, L&D, Mother Baby, PACU, Pediatric ER, PCU, RRT (except NICU only). Must be AHA certified.
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all clinical staff including techs. Must be AHA certified.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for ER, Pediatric ER, all RN Pediatric specialties, RRT-PICU, RRT working in Pediatrics. Must be AHA certified.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for L&D and RRT-NICU. Must be AAP/AHA certified.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for ER and Pediatric ER. Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) certificate acceptable if TNCC not obtained before start.
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Required for L&D. Must be AWHONN certified.
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for Behavioral Health, ER, Pediatric ER, ICU specialties, L&D, Mother Baby, MS, MS/Tele, OR, PACU, PCU. Certifications valid for 3 years.
- Tech Cert Verification - National: As applicable by profession and state.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Annual signed acknowledgment covering Joint Commission Training and Safety Manual.
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Basic Dysrhythmia exam required annually for most clinical candidates (exceptions apply). Must score 88% or higher; up to 3 attempts allowed. Failure results in contract cancellation.
- State License Verification: Primary source verification prior to start and upon expiration.
- NURSYS Verification: Required prior to start as applicable.
Required Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for all RN candidates within 12 months of start. Passing score 80%. Two attempts allowed.
- Competency Exam: Required where applicable. Passing score 80%. Two attempts allowed.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required within 12 months of start for clinical candidates (exceptions apply). Annual update required. Passing score 88%. Three attempts allowed.
Background Checks & Verifications
- Comprehensive background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
- SSN Trace
- Counties, States, Nationwide Criminal Search
- Sex Offender Search
- DMV (if driving is essential)
- Education Verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check upon hire
- HHS/OIG check upon hire
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Fingerprinting required within 90 days of start (except remote workers living outside PA). Full results required, not receipts.
- State-specific searches including Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search (within 90 days), PATCH Search, Medicheck Search (within 30 days)
- Education Verification for highest level relative to specialty
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Physician statement within 2 months of start.
- Fit Mask Test: Required onsite (not for 100% remote non-clinical).
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Vaccine within 10 years of start.
- Negative TB Test or Chest X-Ray: QGold or T-Spot within 90 days or 2 PPDs (one within 90 days, one within 12 months). For positive TB history, confirmation test and negative chest x-ray within 5 years required.
- TB Questionnaire: Required annually if past positive TB or in lieu of TB test renewal.
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters may pend if not eligible before start.
- Hepatitis B: Positive antibody titer or completed vaccine series required; declinations not accepted.
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters may pend if not eligible before start.
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (9-panel without THC also acceptable). Dilute results require observed drug screen within 24 hours if allowed by state. Annual updates not required.
- Hepatitis C: Required only for Operating Room and Dental, within 12 months of start.
- Flu Vaccination: Required for all new candidates starting October through May. Declinations accepted only for non-clinical candidates working at specific locations with masking policy adherence. Medical and religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Fully vaccinated or signed declination with facility-specific form required (except 100% remote non-clinical).
- Respirator Safety Clearance: Required for all candidates starting 04/07/2025 and beyond; annual medical clearance required.
Facility Specific Documents
- Photo for badge (new candidates starting 3/31/2025 and after): recent, forward-facing, color photo with solid background, no hats/masks/filters.
- Affidavit for Provisional Employment: must be completed prior to start.
- COVID and Flu Declination forms if applicable.
Employment History & References
- Minimum of 2 professional references from employment within 12 months of start.
- Complete employment application including 7 years of work history with explanations for gaps over 90 days, education, license/certification info, and contact information.
- Work history verification required for non-clinical candidates including 100% remote.
Additional Notes
- Fit Test Questionnaire required for all candidates prior to start (except 100% remote non-clinical).
- Badge Request Form required for new candidates starting before 3/30/2025.
- Chain of Custody Form required if observed drug screen is needed due to dilute drug screen result.
- All documentation must be uploaded with appropriate expiration dates as specified.
This position requires flexibility to float between multiple campuses and adherence to strict credentialing, health, and compliance requirements.
