Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (NICU)
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period, holiday rotation
- Floating Requirement: Yes, floating within scope to meet facility needs
- Patient Ratios: 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4 depending on patient acuity
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years NICU experience
- Level IV NICU experience preferred; Level III NICU experience considered case-by-case
- Certifications Required: BLS, NRP
- Licensure Required: South Carolina RN License or Multi-State/Compact RN License
- First Time Travelers: Not accepted
- Local Candidates: Accepted on a case-by-case basis within 60 miles radius
- Guaranteed Hours: May be cancelled or called off 1 shift per 2-week period
- Block Scheduling: Possible, at manager discretion
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: All RTO requests must be submitted at time of application; approval based on unit needs
Facility & Unit Overview
- Unit: 82-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Hospital Type: Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Facility, Magnet Hospital
- NICU Description:
- Regional referral center for premature and critically ill neonates
- Provides medical and surgical care for prematurity, respiratory distress, neonatal surgical conditions
- Offers respiratory and nutritional support, ECMO, CRRT, surgical support
- Pediatric palliative care available as needed
- Infant home monitoring program for discharged infants requiring monitoring
- All NICU beds are monitored beds
- Charting System: EPIC
- Scrub Color: Solid Royal Blue or White top with Royal Blue bottoms
Required Documentation & Compliance
Licensure & Certifications
- Active South Carolina RN license or Compact RN license (primary source verification required)
- BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA/AAP only, full eCard with QR code required
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) but not mandatory for NICU
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- Education verification and diploma/transcripts preferred for clearance
- Background checks including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
- Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+), renewed annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or documented positive with chest x-ray
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) prior to start
- Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into facility system
- Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Medication and competency exams as applicable
- Color blindness test required prior to start
- Radiation badge not required for NICU
Additional Notes
- Hurricane season (June - November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; peak months August and September
- Floating within the unit or hospital as needed
- Travelers may be cancelled for 1 shift every 2 weeks
- Locals accepted at a reduced rate on a case-by-case basis
