Registered Nurse - Oncology ICC

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Summary

  • Assignment in Oncology ICC (Infusion and Chemotherapy Center) with 2 years of ER experience required.
  • EPIC experience required.
  • Travelers will float between ICC and Emergency Department units as needed.

Unit Details

  • ICC treats patients with hematology, oncology, and sickle cell conditions.
  • Patients are generally more stable than typical ER patients.
  • Most patients are discharged home; some may be admitted to the hospital.
  • ICC schedules appointments based on referrals from primary teams or oncologists.
  • Smaller unit fostering strong staff relationships and supportive environment.
  • Opportunity to develop diverse nursing skills in a less acute setting.

  • Abdominal Pain
  • Uncontrolled Pain

  • Nausea, Vomiting, Dehydration

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room experience.
  • EPIC electronic health record system experience.
  • Ability to float between ICC and ED units.

Required Certifications

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Competencies & Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
  • Unit-Specific Competency Exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 1 year of start and annually thereafter)

Licensure & Verification

  • State nursing license verification within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS verification required for RNs.
  • Education accreditation confirmation required (accredited nursing program).

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting.
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring.
  • Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending.
  • Subcontractors must complete specific background acknowledgements and fingerprinting proof.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and no contagious disease.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12).
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire required annually.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer required.
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable).
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer required unless medically exempt.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
  • COVID vaccination not required but strongly recommended.

Additional Facility Policies

  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy must be reviewed and signed.
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and annually.
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually.

References & Documentation

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leader.
  • Employment application and skills checklist required.
