Description
Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Tele RN) - Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (Day/Night rotating)
- Day shift: 7am - 7:30pm
- Night shift: 7pm - 7:30am
- Shifts may rotate as needed to meet hospital operational needs
Job Requirements
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
- Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted)
- Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license
- Certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Must work at least every other holiday
- Must pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test during orientation
Orientation & Testing
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate testing; passing scores required
- Pass/Fail testing applies to all bedside RNs (except OR)
- Online training modules must be completed prior to start (typically takes multiple days)
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched before testing
- Returning candidates with less than 6 months gap may have some orientation/testing waived
Licensure & Background Checks
- Background check required prior to start and must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Fingerprinting must be completed under nursing code 4723.09
- Candidates can start with fingerprint results pending but must complete fingerprinting before contract extension
- Primary source verification of nursing license required within 30 days of start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask (N95) fit testing within 12 months and updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; booster if negative/equivocal)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if negative/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- Drug screening (standard 10 panel) within 12 months, updated annually
Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area
- Two professional references required from recent employment (within 1 year) from a manager or supervisor
- Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required
- Annual acknowledgment of safety manual and pass/fail testing required
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable

- Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and documentation prior to start
- Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts as needed
- Returning candidates with less than 6 months gap may have some requirements waived or modified
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and testing requirements during orientation and assignment
