Job Summary
The CT Technologist is responsible for coordinating and producing quality computerized tomography (CT) studies and assisting in CT-guided procedures. This role requires critical thinking, knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy/physiology, radiation safety, venipuncture, and safe medication administration related to contrast media and adjunct medications. The technologist operates sophisticated imaging and ancillary equipment to produce quality CT procedures and ensures accurate documentation, image transmission, and storage. The position involves working with patients across all age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
Work Schedule
- Days, evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality CT examinations for physician review.
- Coordinate CT exams according to physician orders and protocols.
- Protocol exams based on established guidelines and clinical history.
- Perform venipuncture and medication administration safely and effectively.
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Assess patient safety and cooperation prior to exams.
- Educate patients and address questions before CT exams.
- Use Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) proficiently to transmit, archive, and retrieve digital images.
Education & Certification Requirements
- Graduation from a Joint Commission-approved School of Radiologic Technology (or equivalent experience accepted).
- Associate's degree in Radiologic Sciences preferred.
- Certifications required upon hire:
- ARRT - Radiography (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- ARRT - CT
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
- IV Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider
- Radiology Fluoroscopy (within 180 days of hire)
Experience
- Preferred: Previous experience in an acute care facility.

- Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS Level 3 screenings.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual renewal)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- Drug testing and immunization documentation must comply with facility policies.
- TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
