Job Opportunity: RN PCU (Progressive Cardiac Care)
Location: Evansville, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCU)
- 28 beds
- Patient population includes Medical, Cardiac, Pre/Post Cardiovascular Surgery, Arrhythmia, Heart Failure, and Stroke overflow
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
Required Specialty Experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in Progressive Cardiac Care or similar specialty

- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80%, 2 attempts max)
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, updated annually)
Health & Immunizations:
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Fit Test: Required, preferred prior to start, updated annually
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Required with specific timing; TB questionnaire updated annually
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year and TB questionnaire
Drug Screening:
- 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
Onboarding Requirements
- Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot, white or blue background)
- Completion of Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (onsite)
- Completion of Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation (6 hours pre-hire training)
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others (updated annually or if break in service > 90 days)
- Employment Verification for past 7 years (updated annually or if break in service > 90 days)
- Education Verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days of start)
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation upon initial assignment and extensions
