Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7pm - 7am)
- Specialty Experience Required:
- Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- Must have 18 months permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel
- Licensing:
- Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
- Certifications Required:
- AHA or American Red Cross BLS & ACLS
- Willingness to obtain NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification prior to start
- Testing:
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication test during orientation; passing scores required
Experience Requirements
- Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 18 months in Med/Surg Telemetry (highest requirement)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search (SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (monthly)
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually (must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing)
- Education verification required for all candidates
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
References & Employment History
- Two recent references required from a manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director within the specialty area, from employment within one year of start
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in an acute care setting similar to the assignment
- Annual skills checklist required
Orientation & Training
- Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone)
- Pass/fail ECG and medication testing during orientation (SafeMedicate)
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing required
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
Additional Notes
- Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending as long as fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Candidates must renew certifications and licenses if they expire within 30 days of start
- Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 40 days may need to update physical exam, chest X-ray, and eye exam
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID at all times on assignment
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with strong Med/Surg Telemetry backgrounds who hold the appropriate Ohio or compact state license and certifications, and who are comfortable working night shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment.
