Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
Job Details
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
- Shifts may vary to meet hospital operational needs
- Work Schedule: Must work at least every other holiday
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
- Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted)
- Licensure: Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross (RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross (RQI acceptable)
- NIHSS Stroke Certification – AHA, Apex, AACME, or Bluecloud only (Healthstream not accepted)
- Pass/Fail ECG rhythm recognition and safeMedicate testing during orientation (acceptable score required)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM (monthly)
- HHS/OIG (monthly)
- Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
- Education verification required for all candidates
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
Additional Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific online training modules prior to start (completed on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- References: Two professional references from within one year of start, from a manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director (co-worker references not accepted)
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area to assignment
- Fingerprinting must be completed under nursing code 4723.09 and candidates must also complete fingerprinting at the facility
- Orientation includes pass/fail testing for ECG and medication dosing; retakes available after one week if needed
Notes
- Prior travel experience is accepted to meet recent Med/Surg/Telemetry experience requirement, but no explicit prior travel experience is required
- Candidates must have all certifications current and renew if expiring within 30 days of start
- Candidates must be prepared to rotate shifts if necessary to meet hospital needs
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
- Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 40 days may need to update physical exam, chest X-ray, and eye exam
