Job Opportunity: RN - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
- Patients are monitored on bedside cardiac monitors.
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4.
- Work schedule: 36 hours per week, every other weekend, and one major holiday per contract.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- Current RN license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- License/Certificate verification within 30 days prior to start
- Driver’s License/State ID (must be valid and meet address requirements)
Required Exams & Testing
- Ascension Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Medical Surgical Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Color Vision Test (updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80%, updated yearly)
- NIH Certification (Group A yearly, Groups B-F every 2 years)
- Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80%, updated as per latest edition)
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually)
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions require mask wearing
- Positive PPD or Negative IGRA with chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire
- Varicella: Proof of immunity or two doses of vaccine (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years
- Fit Test: Required annually (preferred prior to start)
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
Professional Requirements
- Ascension Profile (resume or professional profile)
- At least two professional references prior to first assignment
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (updated annually)
- Employment Verification for past 7 years (updated annually)
- Education Verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days prior to start)
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation upon initial assignment and updates for extensions

- Nursys verification and FACIS Questionnaire required if disciplinary actions exist
- Various onboarding and unit-specific checklists and attestations required prior to or at start
