Description

Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: HVTI-Stepdown Float Pool
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), rotating D/N shifts
  • Shift rotation may be required to meet hospital operational needs
  • Must work at least every other holiday

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
  • Minimum 18 months recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
  • PCU/Progressive care experience preferred but not required

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have permanent Ohio license or compact state license in hand
  • Required certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation

Prior Travel Experience

  • Travel experience in Cardiac Stepdown counts toward experience requirement
  • No explicit prior travel experience required

Orientation & Testing

  • Pass/fail ECG and medication testing completed onsite during orientation
  • SafeMedicate pass required
  • Orientation includes completion of online training modules prior to start
  • Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before test

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tdap (every 10 years)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with boosters if titers negative or equivocal
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Background & Verification

  • Government-issued photo ID required on assignment
  • Background check required prior to start, including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search
    • SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender registry, OFAC, FACIS Level 3
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months, updated annually
  • Education verification required for all candidates
  • State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification within 30 days of start

Documentation & History

  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
  • Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Annual skills checklist required
  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules prior to clearance to start
  • Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months since last Cleveland Clinic contract may have some testing exemptions
  • Fingerprinting must be completed both through agency and facility processes
  • Candidates must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
