    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (NICU RN) - Seattle, Washington

    Position Details

    • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Day/Night rotating (no straight days or nights; preferences can be given)
    • Ratios: 1:1 or 2:1 patient ratios
    • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years nursing experience
    • First-timers: Accepted if they have 3-4 years in a Level IV NICU with Level IV patient care and float experience; otherwise, must have completed 1-2 Level IV travel assignments
    • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
    • Guaranteed Hours: Yes
    • Locals Accepted: Yes
    • Pending License Accepted: Yes (Compact State license accepted; must have WA RN license—permanent or temporary—prior to start)
    • On-call: Potential requirement
    • Floating: Required as needed within ICU environments, within scope
    • Block Schedule: Not accommodated

    Facility & Unit Highlights

    Special Requirements

    • Minimum of 2 completed traveler assignments
    • Experience with surgical neonates
    • Telemetry experience required
    • Ventilator experience required
    • Comfortable with fluid management, fresh tracheostomies, cooling, and various modes of ventilation
    • Exposure to floating to PICU/CICU/acute care floors highly preferred

    Certifications Required

    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA Provider only, instructor not accepted
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Provider only, instructor not accepted; PALS accepted in lieu of BLS
    • WA RN License – Permanent or temporary license required prior to start; compact licenses accepted with additional requirements
    • Other certifications (not required for NICU RN but relevant for other roles): ACLS, NRP, CHEMO, Tech Certifications as applicable

    Competency Exams

    • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (NICU portion, 80%+ required)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for NICU, PICU, CICU, ER; 80%+ passing score)
    • Pediatric Competency Exam (for RNs not booked as Pediatrics but may float)
    • Skills Checklists (Peds and unit-specific) required

    Health & Compliance Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year (previous acceptable if gap between contracts <6 months)
    • Fit mask test (N95 or CAPR) valid for entire assignment; on-site fit testing not allowed
    • Immunizations and titers required:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (accepted if given after age 11, expired accepted if after age 11)
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (Qgold/Tspot or 2 PPDs; annual for Emergency and Radiology)
      • TB Questionnaire (required except Emergency and Radiology)
      • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) titers or vaccines with boosters if needed
      • Hepatitis B (positive titer, vaccine series, or signed declination)
      • Varicella titer or vaccines with boosters if needed
      • Seasonal Flu Vaccine or Declination (required during flu season Oct-Mar)
      • COVID vaccine strongly recommended but not required
    • Drug testing: 12-panel drug screen within 1 year of start, covering specific substances
    • Respiratory Safety Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for respirator use

    Background Checks & Documentation

    • 7-year criminal background check required (or within past year if all criteria met)
    • Various state and national criminal, civil, and sanction searches required
    • Education verification required for foreign-educated candidates
    • Official transcripts/diplomas required for RNs
    • WA State Patrol Search required within 12 months and every 2 years thereafter
    • Photo for badge required on blue background within 72 hours of contract signing
    • Math test and EKG test required onsite (not pass/fail; remediation allowed)
    • Completion of facility-specific modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours)
    • Payroll deduction authorization form for parking (if applicable)

    Additional Notes

    • No block scheduling available
    • Floating within ICU units expected as needed
    • No straight day or night shifts; rotating shifts only
    • Candidates must include requested time off (RTO) in submission; no changes allowed after approval
    • Candidates must be comfortable working with high acuity Level IV NICU patients, including surgical neonates
    • Telemetry and ventilator experience mandatory
    • Facility encourages use of public transportation; parking available with payroll deduction if bringing a vehicle

    This position is ideal for experienced NICU RNs with strong critical care skills, comfort with high acuity pediatric patients, and flexibility to float within ICU settings.
