Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Westminster, Maryland
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Description
- Minimum 2 years of experience required in nursing specialty.
- Pediatric Emergency Department (ED) experience is a must.
- Must hold current BLS and PALS certifications.
- Ability to function independently in a small pediatric unit where the nurse is often the sole caregiver.
- When no pediatric patients are present, the nurse may be floated to Med/Surg, ED, or Family Birthplace units based on experience.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - verification required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - verification required
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - verification required
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - verification required
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - verification required
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - verification required
- NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - time-sensitive, with limited attempts and remediation process
- State RN License verification (Primary Source Verification required)
- NURSYS Verification (for RNs)
Required Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Unit-Specific Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias or Prophecy only, with remediation if failed)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Education verification and accreditation confirmation required, especially if nursing education was completed outside Maryland.
- Employment application and work history verification (minimum 2 workplaces in last 7 years).
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years of start date required for travel assignments.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire updated annually.
- Immunizations:
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella (boosters required if negative).
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if negative.
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant screen accepted as placeholder).
- Respirator Fit Test (for new contracts) to be completed onsite; PAPR training provided if failed.
Facility-Specific Notes
- The facility is a nicotine-free environment; candidates must review and sign the nicotine-free policy.
- Floating policy applies; candidates must complete and sign related documentation.
- Time and attendance policy for contracted staff must be acknowledged and signed.
- EKG exam may be required onsite with strict pass/fail rules and remediation process.
