Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (Day/Night)
    • 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM / 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
    • Shifts may vary based on hospital operational needs
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week (3x12's)
  • Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
  • Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted)
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
  • Required certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment

Orientation & Testing

  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation
  • Pass/Fail ECG & Medication testing required for all bedside RNs (except OR)
  • Unit-specific competency exams required annually

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required
  • Background checks including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM (monthly)
    • HHS/OIG (monthly)
    • Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Education verification required
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap every 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption (required during flu season)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel within 12 months, updated annually
  • References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start, from supervisors or managers
  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing
  • Fingerprinting must be completed both through agency and facility processes
  • Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
  • Candidates must comply with all facility onboarding and documentation deadlines

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment
  • Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 40 days may need to update physical exam, chest X-ray, and eye exam
  • Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; declinations are not accepted
  • PAPRs for mask fit failures due to facial hair require shaving or approved exemption

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with recent acute care experience and required certifications, seeking a 13-week travel assignment in Ohio with rotating 12-hour shifts.
