MRI Technician - Akron, Ohio

Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Operate Magnetic Resonance Equipment to produce MR scans of patients.
  • Ensure proper processing of patient records to initiate procedure results timely.
  • Perform other assigned duties as training and skills allow.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Graduate of an approved school of MRI Technology and/or registered by the ARRT for MRI.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of MRI Technologist experience preferred.

Certifications & Skills

  • Post-primary eligibility for individuals currently holding ARRT certification and registration (NMTCB or ARDMS) with appropriate education and clinical requirements to obtain MRI registry certification within one year of hire.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and hospital staff.
  • Ability to calibrate and operate MRI equipment, position patients properly, and apply/adjust restraining devices.
  • Ability to lift and position patients.
  • Completion of training to perform other radiology procedures (e.g., select X-ray procedures).
  • Ability to utilize computer systems for patient records management.
  • CPR certification and ability to initiate CPR.
  • Demonstrate customer service behaviors consistent with policy.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations, respecting their dignity and needs.

Required Credentials & Compliance

  • Certifications:
    • ARRT (required for submission)
    • BLS (AHA only)
  • Licenses:
    • State-specific license/certificate verification (Primary Source Verification required within 30 days prior to start)
  • Health & Immunizations:
    • Fit Test (N95 mask)
    • Health Statement (pre-employment physical within one year)
    • COVID-19 Vaccine (fully vaccinated required; exemptions case-by-case)
    • MMR (titer or 2 adult vaccines; no declinations accepted)
    • Hepatitis B (titer or complete vaccine series; signed declinations accepted)
    • Influenza Vaccine (required October-April; exemptions require approval)
    • 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) with no declinations accepted
    • Varicella (titer or 2 adult vaccines; no declinations accepted)
    • Annual TB Questionnaire
  • Testing & Competency:
    • Unit-specific competency exam (annual)
    • Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)
    • Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics (annual)
  • Background & Screening:
    • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (annual)
    • Criminal background check (FCRA compliant, 7 years, plus SSN trace and nationwide checks) within 90 days of start
    • OIG Search within 90 days of start
    • EPLS Search within 90 days of start
  • Other:
    • Education verification (third-party)
    • Social Security Card or equivalent
