Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Unit: HVTI-Stepdown (Cardiac Stepdown Unit)


Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12's) only
  • Day/Night rotating shifts: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM / 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
  • Shifts may be variable to meet hospital operational needs; facility will try to honor preferred shifts but reserves the right to rotate

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
  • Minimum 18 months of recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Progressive Care experience preferred but not required

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
  • Required certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Holiday Work

  • Must be available to work at least every other holiday

Testing & Orientation

  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate competency test required during orientation; passing scores required
  • Unit-specific competency exams required within 12 months of start and updated annually
  • Online training modules must be completed prior to start (typically takes multiple days)
  • Pass/Fail ECG & Medication testing required onsite during orientation (not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025)
  • Fit mask (N95) fit test within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Background & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
  • Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search and education verification
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually; must be completed under nursing code 4723.09
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
  • State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

Employment History & References

  • Application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
  • Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
