Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist

Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders.
  • Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities, including supervision of respiratory care students.
  • Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; select, assemble, check, and operate respiratory equipment.
  • Provide high-quality respiratory care to patient populations including Neonate, Infant, Toddler, School Age, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric.
  • Work 12-hour shifts.
  • Every other weekend required.
  • On-call required once every scheduling period.
  • May cover other shifts as needed.
  • Some pediatric experience preferred.

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum standard for RRT roles (typically 1+ years).
  • Pediatric experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • No prior travel experience required.

Certifications & Licenses Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for clinical positions (AHA or ARC acceptable).
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required.
  • Professional License: Must provide primary source verification of professional respiratory therapist license within 30 days of start.

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

  • Drug Screen: 10 Panel within 30 days of start (THC not required).
  • Skills Checklist: Must be completed within 12 months.
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Declination accepted.
  • MMR: 2 vaccines or positive titer; 1 booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
  • Fit Test: Completed prior to start with acceptable respirators.
  • Hepatitis B: 2 vaccines or positive titer; 1 booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
  • TB Test: Negative test within past year or appropriate documentation if history of positive test.
  • Health Statement: Physician statement within last 12 months.
  • Driver’s License/State ID: Unexpired government-issued photo ID.
  • Background Check: Within 30 days of start, including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check.
  • Adult and Child Abuse Clearance: State requirement.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG Check: Within 30 days of start.
  • References: 2 professional references required, including 1 supervisor.
  • Resume/Profile: Required for submission.
  • I-9 Attestation: Completed on agency letterhead.
  • Color Vision Test: Required.
  • OSHA Questionnaire: Candidate must complete.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required annually by 12/01 or facility declination accepted.
  • Additional verifications and attestations as required for system access and compliance.

Work Schedule & Expectations

  • 12-hour shifts.
  • Every other weekend required.
  • On-call once every scheduling period.
  • Flexibility to cover other shifts as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some pediatric respiratory therapy experience preferred.
