Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Float Pool position on the PCU (Progressive Care Unit) Float Pool - Nights
  • May float to any stepdown/PCU area and potentially to other campuses (Ross Heart, Brain & Spine, Dodd)
  • May be required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Estimated patient ratios: 1:3-4
  • Required experience: 2 years in specialty (highest requirement)
  • Certifications required: BLS and ACLS
  • Skills required: IV start, Telemetry
  • EPIC experience required

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • Prior travel experience not explicitly required

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification) – check unit specifics
  • Unit-specific competency exams required, including:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for Aya candidates)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required annually for most RNs)

Licensure & Background Requirements

  • Valid RN license (compact license accepted with residency declaration if from outside Ohio)
  • Background check: 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting
  • Fingerprinting: Ohio BCI & FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start, with specific code 3701.881
  • Education verification: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption possible)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
  • COVID vaccination: Not required but strongly recommended

Facility Policies & Additional Requirements

  • No Return to Office (RTO) accepted between 2/15/26 and 2/28/26
  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting training and acknowledgment required
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment required
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Background and compliance monitoring through monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 2 years of experience, strong telemetry and IV skills, and EPIC experience, who are comfortable floating across multiple PCU and stepdown units during night shifts.
