Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland

Job Description

  • Work on 3South, a Med/Surg Telemetry Certified Stroke Center and Level IV Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU).
  • Patient population primarily neuro-related diagnoses; also serves as telemetry overflow for other patient types, allowing diverse nursing practice.
  • May be pulled to other units as needed to support hospital operations.
  • Schedule includes every other weekend and holidays.
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
  • Longer contracts available.

Required Qualifications

  • Neurology experience
  • Med/Surg and Telemetry experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Basic EKG testing (provided by agency; must be passed before orientation)

Contract Length

  • 14 weeks

Certifications & Compliance Requirements

  • Current, valid state nursing license with primary source verification (NURSYS verification required for RNs)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA Provider Certification or equivalent)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (valid for 1 year; specific vendors accepted)
  • Basic EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam (Relias or Prophecy Dysrhythmia/EKG exams only; must be renewed annually)
  • Pass/Fail testing acknowledgment (EKG/Medication)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification as applicable
  • Stroke and Trauma CEUs as required (Stroke CEUs must be stroke-related and updated annually; Trauma CEUs required after 27 weeks of work)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement and other facility-specific training

Health & Background Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with exceptions for past positive TB history)
  • Up-to-date immunizations including:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Respirator fit test (completed onsite; annual renewal required for agency candidates)
  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including education verification and various federal/state checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
  • Employment verification for last 7 years (2 workplaces) or professional references as backup
