Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med Surg Tele - Ortho Surg/MSK Infections/Ortho Trauma)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule & Unit Details

• Shift: T9 Nights (7p-7:30a), 3x12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
• Days: Weekdays and some weekends
• Unit: East Tower 9, 27 beds
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4-5
• No call required
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity

Experience & Certifications

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required
• Prior travel experience preferred (not required)
• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Skills Required:

  • IV Start
  • Telemetry
  • Intermediate nursing skills
• EPIC electronic health record experience required

Compliance & Background Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific)
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
• Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN)
• State license verification within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification required for RNs
• Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap (adult dose)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption possible)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Competency & Training Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam prior to start
• Unit-specific competency exam required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with remediation process if failed)
• Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
• Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
• Background acknowledgement and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually

References & Documentation

• Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)
• Employment application required, including education verification for nursing candidates
• Skills checklist required

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be willing to complete Ohio-specific fingerprinting using the designated code and process
• Candidates may renew BLS and ACLS certifications at the facility if needed
• Floating within units of similar or lower acuity is expected
• Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory

This position offers a structured night shift schedule in a specialized orthopedic and trauma unit with no call responsibilities, requiring solid Med Surg Tele nursing skills and EPIC experience.
