Description
Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Jacksonville, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (5x8 hour shifts)
- On-Call: One night per week (Monday-Thursday) from 2:00 AM - 6:00 AM
- Average Daily Census: 45 patients
- Rooms: 4
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: No minimum experience required
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Certifications Required:
- ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
- Active state license (must be current; pending licenses not accepted)
Work Environment & Preferences
- Facility Type: Critical Access, Magnet hospital
- Total Staffed Beds: 25
- Charting System: Cerner
- Scrub Color: Any solid color
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
- Block Schedule: Possible, discuss with manager
- RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off

- Ultrasound Skills:
- Abdominal Aorta, Appendix, Breast, Gallbladder, Liver, Pancreas, Pediatric Abdomen/Pelvis, Spleen
- OB/GYN Ultrasound: 1st, 2nd, 3rd trimester, Fetal Anatomical Survey
- Neonatal Ultrasound: Abdomen/Pelvis/Renal/Bladder, Bone lengths, Cerebellum, Ventricles, Gender, Head, Heart, Spine
- Renal/Pelvis Ultrasound: Bladder, Hernia, Ovaries, Prostate, Renal/Bladder, Uterus, Vaginal
- Small Parts Ultrasound: Breast, Superficial Masses, Testicles/Scrotum, Thyroid
- Vascular Ultrasound: Aorta, Carotid, Color Flow, Doppler Studies, Duplex, Lower/Upper Extremity Arterial and Venous, Renal Artery Duplex
- Additional: Isolation precaution knowledge/experience preferred
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid US Driver’s License or State ID
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
- Illinois-specific background and registry checks (including fingerprinting in Illinois)
- Education verification (degree or transcript)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS as required by unit/specialty (AHA or RQI acceptable)
- Competency exam for clinical/allied candidates
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
- Fit mask test (specific mask types required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or documentation for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- References: 2 professional references required for clinical/allied candidates
- Skills checklist required for clinical/allied candidates
- Badge photo required before start
Additional Notes
- Parking permit required but no cost
- Facility accommodates latex allergies
- Candidates must have an active Illinois state license before starting
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
This position is suitable for both new and experienced ultrasound techs looking for a travel contract in a critical access hospital setting with a supportive environment and a variety of ultrasound specialties.
