Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse
  • Shift: 3x12-hour shifts (Day/Night rotating shifts, 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
  • Shift rotation may be required to meet hospital operational needs
  • Must work at least every other holiday
  • Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate testing (passing scores required)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
  • Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
  • Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
  • Required certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Certifications must be current and renewed prior to start if expiring within 30 days

Compliance & Testing

  • Pass/Fail ECG and medication dosing testing during orientation (SafeMedicate)
  • Annual competency exams and unit-specific competency exams required
  • Background checks including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (must be completed within 12 months and updated annually)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates starting 4/11/2025 or later)
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • Tdap every 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
  • Background checks must include a 7-year FCRA compliant search and be updated annually
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • References: Two professional references from within the last year required (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar specialty
  • Annual skills checklist required

Additional Notes

  • Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and complete all required documentation and training before clearance to start
  • Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts as needed
  • Candidates must be prepared to work holidays as scheduled

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, who are comfortable with rotating shifts and meeting comprehensive compliance and certification requirements.
