Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Pediatrics - Post Anesthesia Care and Pre Testing)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Experience: 2-3 years in Pediatric Post Anesthesia Care and Pre Testing
- Schedule: Five 8-hour shifts per week; no weekends or holidays
- On-Call: None
- Licensing:
- Must have a valid state license issued prior to start date
- Pending licenses accepted only if application date and number are provided, but license must be issued before starting
- Modules: Required mandatory modules must be completed within the first week of assignment
- Shift Make-Up: Missed shifts due to call outs must be made up at the end of the contract, with extra days added if needed
Certifications & Competencies Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only, valid beyond 30 days of start
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only, valid beyond 30 days of start
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only, valid beyond 30 days of start
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA/AAP only, valid beyond 30 days of start
- Chemotherapy certification (based on unit/specialty)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Competency Exam
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Pass/Fail Medication Calculation Exam at orientation (must score 84% or higher, 2 attempts allowed)
Background & Verification
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check required
- HHS/OIG check required
- Education verification (transcript/diploma accepted if verification pending)
- Primary source verification of state license (NURSYS verification required)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Two professional references dated within past two years (cannot be pending)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 30 days of start, including latex allergy information
- Fit test for N95 mask (1860 or 1870+) within 1 year of start, updated annually; PAPRs accepted
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (TD and DTap not accepted)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 60 days of start or chest x-ray if past positive
- TB questionnaire required for all candidates
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive quantitative titer with lab values and reference ranges
- Hepatitis B series and quantitative surface antibody titer with lab values; declination form accepted if applicable
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive quantitative titer with lab values (LabCorp exceptions apply)
- 10-panel drug screen including marijuana within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season 2025-26
- Latex allergy questionnaire accepted if not included in physical exam
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination required for tracking
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge must be submitted immediately after signing; specific guidelines apply (no hats, sunglasses, altered photos, etc.)
- Completion of facility-specific Cornerstone Modules prior to start (includes COVID-19 vaccine training and immunization best practices)
- Medication Study Guide provided prior to start for orientation test preparation
- Emergency contact information must be completed
- TB Exposure/PPD Conversion Record required if candidate is a new TB converter
- Workramp LMS modules required for all except RN, SPT, LPN, OR Tech, PCT, and Pediatric Care Aide/CNA (includes Emergency Management, Infection Control, Quality Essentials, Reasonable Accommodations, Security Services)
- Medical or religious exemptions for flu vaccine require facility approval
