Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Columbus, Ohio

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Unit: PCU Float Pool - Nights
    • Float to any stepdown/PCU area, potential to float to other campuses (Ross Heart, Brain & Spine, Dodd)
    • May float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3-4

Experience & Skills Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Skills Required:
    • IV Start
    • Telemetry monitoring
  • Electronic Medical Record: EPIC experience required

Licensure & Verification

  • Must have a valid nursing license (compact license holders from states other than Ohio must complete additional residency documentation)
  • NURSYS verification required for RN license
  • State license verification required within 30 days of start

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation confirmation from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN)
  • Transcript or diploma verification required
  • Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting training and acknowledgment required
  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
    • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for Aya candidates prior to start)
  • Unit-specific competency exam required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for all RNs within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
  • NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required annually

References & Documentation

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager/director or formal leadership
  • Employment application required, including education details for nursing candidates
  • Skills checklist required
