Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM (weekdays and weekends)
Patient Ratio: 1:2 (based on acuity; may include overflow patients requiring step-down care)
EMR System: Cerner

Job Description

• Provide direct care for fresh open-heart admissions from the OR.
• Skilled in cardiac surgery patient care including:

  • Swan-Ganz catheter management
  • Impella device monitoring
  • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
• Must be experienced in cardiac surgery skills and post-operative care.
• Blocked schedules considered only if requesting weekends only (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon).
• Scrubs are not provided.

Experience & Certifications Required

• Minimum Specialty Experience: 2+ years as a Registered Nurse with cardiac surgery and critical care experience.
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required.
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
• Additional certifications may be required depending on specialty and unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, Chemotherapy certification if applicable).

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Proof of RN license verification (recently pulled within 2 days of submission).
• Candidate profile including work history and specialty-specific skills checklist.
• Minimum 2 clinical or manager/charge nurse references within the past 2 years.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification.
• Health documents including:

  • Physical exam (initial and annual updates)
  • Immunizations and titers (TB, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella)
  • Drug testing (10 panel within 30 days of start, updated annually)
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccination or declination
• Facility-specific requirements such as badge photo, background drug screen consent, non-disclosure agreements, parking pass, and care learning modules.
• Completion of Cerner Learning Training Modules prior to orientation.
• ReadySet (RS) Surveys (online health assessment paperwork) must be completed by the facility’s deadline.
