Job Summary: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Livingston, New Jersey
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12.5 hours each (9am-10pm or 7am-8pm)
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in Cath Lab
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-timers accepted)
- Licensure: New Jersey RN license required upon application
- Certifications Required: BLS and ACLS
- Additional Skills:
- Ability to circulate in complex cases and multiple specialties
- Must be able to scrub or monitor
- Experience with cardiac caths/PCI/EP ablations, leg angiography, permcaths, lysis neuro-cerebral angio, Impella, Roto, Shockwave, IABP, CSI, LS Pro, Carto/Ensite X, Watchman implants
- Vascular experience (IVCF) highly preferred
- Neuro scrub experience helpful but not required
- Float: May float to Cath Lab Holding
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Licenses & Certifications:
- NJ RN License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA required
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- State-specific exclusions list (NJ Department of Treasury) within 30 days of start and for extensions
- Health Requirements:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per facility guidelines
- Physical exam within 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine test)
- Seasonal influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Fit test for respirator use if applicable (on-site fit testing mandatory)
- Latex allergy screening questionnaire if job tasks require glove use
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 72 hours of signing, required within 12 months of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Cath Lab and adult critical care units
- Color blindness test within 1 year if job tasks require color discrimination
- Other Requirements:
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
- Two references within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
- Work history verification for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start, allowing 30-day gaps)
- Skills checklist updated annually (Aya requirement)
- Completion of facility-specific floating policy acknowledgment
- Annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgment
Certifications & Training Notes
- ACLS and BLS certifications must be current; renewals required if expiring within a month of start
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge required; candidates have 3 attempts to pass
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required only for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (not required for this Cath Lab role)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) not required for this position
- Chemotherapy certification not required for this role
Additional Information
- Locals accepted; no block scheduling
- Must be able to provide government-issued photo ID and complete I9 and E-Verify documentation
- Candidates must complete Respiratory Medical Clearance and bring documentation on first day
- Facility requires annual completion of OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission training
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements prior to start
