Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Schedule: 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM
  • On-call requirements:
    • At least 2 weekends in an 8-week schedule
    • 1-2 weeknights on call (starting between 5:30 PM or 7:00 PM until 7:00 AM next morning)
    • Weekend call covers 48 hours from 7:00 AM Saturday to 7:00 AM Monday
  • Call duties split between cardiac and neuro once trained in neuro
  • RCIS certification not accepted

Required Certifications & Skills

  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • Diagnostic right and left heart catheterization
  • Interventional catheterization
  • Rotablator use
  • Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
  • Closure devices
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Circulating and scrubbing in sterile procedures
  • Equipment setup for sterile procedures
  • Experience with computerized documentation
  • Patient population: middle adult to geriatrics

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty (Radiology / Cardiology)
  • Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check (all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Education verification required (transcript or diploma acceptable if verification unavailable)
  • KY State Abuse Registry check required for Home Health specialties (not applicable here)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
  • Fit mask test annually (exceptions for some non-clinical roles)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Baseline TB risk assessment within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required; declinations NOT accepted
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer, series, or declination required
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required; declinations NOT accepted
  • Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); declinations NOT accepted
  • COVID-19 vaccination or medical/religious exemption required; facility-specific exemption form must be completed

Competency & Testing

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (advanced level for Cath Lab Techs)
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Color blindness testing required prior to start
  • Pass/fail EKG test required for certain units (not specified here)

Documentation & Other Requirements

  • Driver’s license required if driving is a major job function
  • Photo for badge (headshot with solid light background, no filters or edits)
  • 2 professional references required (1 for non-clinical)
  • Employment application required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually (not required for non-clinical)
  • Work history verification may be required if background check flags issues

Additional Notes

  • RCIS certification is not accepted for this role
  • Call schedule includes long weekend shifts and some weeknight calls
  • Candidate must be able to circulate, scrub, and manage sterile equipment and procedures
  • Patient population primarily middle adult to geriatric

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab Techs with at least 2 years in Radiology/Cardiology who are comfortable with on-call responsibilities and advanced cardiac procedures.
