Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Location: Long Beach, California
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 5x8 hour shifts, AM 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- Additional Hours: Weekend and daily on-call hours after 5 PM
- Call: Required
- Patient Age Group: Adults
- Unit Accepts: First-time travelers
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider, Instructor, or RQI acceptable
- ARRT N (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Nuclear Medicine)
- NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Nuclear Medicine
- No prior travel experience required

- Siemens equipment
- Gastric Emptying studies
- HIDA Scan
- MUGA Scan
- PET Scan
- 3 Phase Bone Scan
- Limited and Whole Body scans
- Liver Scan for Hemangioma
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- Standard background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually
- TDAP vaccine within last 10 years (declination allowed)
- Negative TB test (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-Step PPD) within 1 year, updated annually
- TB questionnaire annually
- Immunity or vaccination for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declination allowed for low/equivocal titer)
- Varicella (declination allowed for low/equivocal titer)
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year (excluding marijuana panel due to CA state law)
- Seasonal flu vaccine required November 1 - April 30 (declination allowed)
- COVID vaccination record preferred
Competency & Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by profession)
- Color Blind Testing (annual)
- Competency Exam (within 2 years of start)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for RNs in specific units; may not apply here)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for RNs in cardiac monitoring units (not required for Per Diem)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Review of policies including Drug and Alcohol Free, Hand Hygiene, Dress and Appearance
- Completion of EPIC Education Modules prior to or at start (approx. 8 hours)
- Completion of YouLearn Modules assigned by facility
- HIPAA Education Module completion required before EPIC modules
- Clear headshot photo required for badge (except Long Beach location)
Additional Notes
- Candidates within 50 miles considered local (local candidates accepted at a different pay rate)
- Two professional references required
- Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required, updated annually
- Annual internal evaluation required if employed for 1 year or more
