Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS Tele RN Days)
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele)
- Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years in MS/Telemetry
- Experience Needed:
- Medical-Surgical Telemetry nursing
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Telemetry unit experience
- Preferred Experience: Community hospital experience
- First-time travelers: Accepted
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Licensure & Certifications
- License: South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be active prior to start
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Additional Certifications (as applicable):
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for pediatric units only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Not required for ER RNs
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP only
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - AWHONN or NCC acceptable
- Certification Notes:
- Certifications expiring within 30 days of start are not accepted; renewal or scheduled course required before start

- Locals Accepted: Yes (at a reduced rate)
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Block Scheduling: Approval can be requested but not guaranteed
- Hurricane Season: June through November; travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed
- Primary Source License Verification: Required, must be active and unencumbered
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam updated annually
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest x-ray if positive history
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- COVID vaccines highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
- Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology and general competency exams required
- Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 4-6 hours for this location
- Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background required before start
- Facility Specific Documents: Job description acknowledgment required prior to start
- Fit Mask Testing: Conducted onsite during orientation; facial hair must be shaved or trimmed prior
- Radiation Badge: Required only for specific units (not required for this MS Tele position)

- Floating within scope is required to meet facility needs
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
- Travelers should be aware of potential emergency assignments during hurricane season
