Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVOR) - Akron, Ohio

Position Details

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 months recent permanent CVOR experience required prior to travel.
  • Open Heart and Vascular experience preferred.
  • Scrub heart experience required.
  • Higher years of experience requirement applies if discrepancies exist (in this case, 18 months).

Prior Travel Experience

  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned.

Work Schedule

  • Must work at least every other holiday.

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all candidates.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required.
  • CVOR National Certification: Required (NBSTSA or NBSTSA-CST).
  • Pass/Fail ECG & Medication Testing: Required during orientation for bedside RNs (except OR RNs).
  • Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, TNCC, CHEMO, CNOR may be preferred or required depending on specific roles but are not mandatory for this position.
  • Unit-specific competency exams and core training modules must be completed and updated annually.

Orientation & Testing

  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass/fail testing required during orientation.
  • Orientation includes completion of safety manual acknowledgment and medication/pharmacology competency exams.

Licensure & Background Checks

  • Valid state nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days of start.
  • Background check required prior to assignment start, including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search
    • SSN trace
    • Nationwide and state criminal checks
    • National Sex Offender Registry
    • Education verification
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series
    • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).

Documentation & References

  • One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty required to qualify for submission.
  • Two references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
  • Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar specialty area.

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried while on assignment.
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
  • Candidates must comply with all facility onboarding and documentation requirements.
  • Candidates must be aware of and comply with facility policies regarding holidays and orientation testing.

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR Registered Nurses with strong scrub heart experience and the ability to meet rigorous certification, health, and background requirements.
