Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Med Surg RN)
- Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts (06:45 AM - 07:15 PM), with option for 4x12 hour shifts if preferred
- Average Daily Census: 21 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- License Requirement: Active Illinois RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Will float within scope as needed
- Block Scheduling: Open to discussion with manager
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

- Valid/current US Driver’s License or State ID
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification (degree or transcript)
- State-specific criminal and offender registry searches as required by Illinois
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs
- Fit mask test (specific mask types required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Competency exam and skills checklist required for clinical candidates
- Badge photo submission within one week of signing contract
- Review and sign facility-specific code of conduct and other required documents
Additional Notes
- Scrub color: Any solid color
- No radius restrictions for locals
- Candidates must have an active Illinois RN license before applying
- Facility may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay for those hours
- Candidates may be required to float within their scope of practice
This position is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of Med Surg experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, acute care, Level I trauma center environment with a variety of complex patient care needs.
