Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technician

Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Prepare, administer, and measure radioactive isotopes for therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies using various radioisotope equipment.
  • Operate Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT equipment to demonstrate anatomical or physiological structures for diagnostic purposes.
  • Produce quality images as directed by radiologists and physicians for diagnosis or treatment of anatomic or physiologic disorders.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of general and cross-sectional anatomy, technical factors, radiation safety, and basic computer skills.
  • Work hours may vary between 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM, with 8-hour shifts.
  • Position shared across multiple facilities; primary location is West Burlington with flexibility to work at other campuses.

Required Credentials & Certifications

  • Registered ARRT (N) and/or NMTCB certification.
  • BLS certification (AHA or ARC acceptable).
  • Valid professional license with primary source verification within 30 days of start.
  • Completion of required education verification.
  • Drug screen (10 panel) within 30 days of start.
  • Skills checklist completed within the last 12 months.
  • COVID-19 vaccine (declination accepted).
  • MMR: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
  • Fit test completed prior to start (approved mask types specified).
  • Hepatitis B: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
  • TB test: Negative test within past year or appropriate documentation if history of positive test.
  • Health statement from physician within last 12 months.
  • Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
  • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years; declination accepted.
  • Background check within 30 days of start (includes SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender).
  • Iowa Adult and Child Abuse clearance (state requirement).
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start.
  • Professional references: 2 required, including 1 supervisor reference.
  • Resume or profile submission required.
  • I-9 attestation completed.
  • Color vision test.
  • Contract employee data sheet.
  • NSO and OFAC checks within 30 days of start.
  • OSHA questionnaire completed by candidate.
  • Pre-orientation computer-based learning (CBL) acknowledgement.
  • Influenza vaccine or facility declination accepted (due annually by December 1).
