Job Opportunity: CT Technologist (Travel/Contract)
Location: Antioch, California

Job Summary
The CT Technologist is responsible for coordinating and producing quality computerized tomography (CT) studies and assisting in CT-guided procedures. This role requires critical thinking, knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy/physiology, radiation safety, venipuncture, and safe medication administration related to contrast media and adjunct medications. The technologist operates sophisticated imaging and ancillary equipment to produce quality CT procedures and ensures accurate documentation and image management.
The position involves working days, evenings, nights, and weekends. The patient population served includes neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including high-risk and critically ill individuals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality CT examinations for physician review.
- Coordinate CT exams according to physician orders and protocols.
- Protocol exams based on established guidelines and clinical history.
- Perform venipuncture and medication administration safely and effectively.
- Accurately document care in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Assess patients prior to exams to ensure safety and cooperation.
- Educate patients and address concerns before CT exams.
- Use Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) proficiently to transmit, archive, and retrieve digital images.
Education & Certification Requirements
- Graduation from a Joint Commission-approved School of Radiologic Technology (or equivalent experience accepted).
- Associate’s degree in Radiologic Sciences preferred.
- Certifications required upon hire:
- ARRT - Radiography (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- ARRT - CT
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
- IV Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider
- Radiology Fluoroscopy (within 180 days of hire)
Experience
- Previous experience in an acute care facility is preferred.
- Required years of specialty experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 2 years typical for CT Tech roles unless otherwise specified.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and technical imaging factors.
- Proficiency with multiple computerized systems and PACS.

- Ability to work with diverse patient populations across all age groups.
Work Environment
- Travel/contract position with variable shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Non-supervisory role with access to Protected Health Information (PHI) as needed for patient care.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS screening.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
- Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually.
Additional Requirements
- Must provide full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually.
- Competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, etc.).
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and others prior to start.
