Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina

Position Details
- Specialty: Emergency Room Registered Nurse
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 PM - 7 AM, Nights)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not applicable
- Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility and department needs (including sister units/facilities)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- License: South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (American Heart Association only)
- ACLS (American Heart Association only)
- PALS (American Heart Association only)
- Preferred Certifications:
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Note: TNCC is not required for ER RNs
- Special Requirements: Epic electronic health record experience required
Work Environment & Scheduling
- Ratios: Based on patient acuity
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Local Radius: 60 miles

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education Verification: Required (diploma/transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed)
- Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; must be active and unencumbered
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Immunizations and titers: Tdap, MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B
- TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30)
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for all patient-facing travelers
- Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background, business casual attire, no hats or sunglasses
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Color blindness testing required prior to start
- Competency exam required (Peds OR candidates may use regular OR competency exam if no pediatric experience)
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Orientation modules must be completed prior to start (estimated 4-6 hours for this location)
- First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay platform used for onboarding and document uploads
- COVID and flu vaccine documentation must be uploaded into OurDay
- Job description acknowledgment required prior to start
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Radiation badge is not required for ER RN
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
- Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and updated annually
This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of clinical experience, who hold the required licenses and certifications, and have experience with Epic EHR. The role requires night shifts and some floating flexibility within the facility.
