Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS Tele RN Nights)
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS Tele)
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: May need to float within scope to like units or sister facilities
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years in MS/Telemetry, telemetry interpretation, and dysrhythmia interpretation
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Licenses: South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be active prior to start
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Preferred Experience: Community hospital experience

- Hurricane Season: June through November; travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time
Scheduling & Hours
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Block Scheduling: Approval can be requested but not guaranteed
- Local Radius: 60 miles

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education Verification: Required (diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder)
- Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; must be active and unencumbered
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam updated annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive history
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug-April)
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
- Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology and general competency exams required
- Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
Additional Requirements
- Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background, frontal view, business casual attire
- Orientation: Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 4-6 hours) prior to start
- Onsite Fit Testing: Respirator fit test done during orientation; facial hair must be shaved or trimmed
- Floating: May be required to float within scope to similar units or sister facilities
