Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (36 hours/week)
  • Contract Dates: February 15, 2026 through February 28, 2026
  • Patient Ratios: Not specified
  • May be required to float to other units

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Labor and Delivery (L&D)
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
  • Prior Travel Experience: Preferred but not required

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or NCC C-EFM acceptable in lieu of AWHONN Advanced

Skills Required

  • IV start proficiency
  • Experience in Labor and Delivery
  • EPIC electronic medical record experience required

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Verification of nursing education from accredited programs (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, CASN)
  • State nursing license verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification for RNs
  • Completion of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate prior to start and annually thereafter
  • Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tdap (adult dose)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • TB questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
  • Skills checklist and employment application required

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
  • Unit-specific competency exam required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with remediation process if failed)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates using a compact license from states other than Ohio must complete a residency declaration form
  • Fingerprinting must be completed using specific Ohio codes and within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if break in service exceeds 90 days
  • Background check and fingerprint results with hits require additional documentation and adjudication
  • Candidates may renew BLS and ACLS certifications at the facility if needed

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with strong clinical skills, EPIC experience, and the required certifications, looking for a travel contract in Ohio.
