Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Night Shift)

Job Description

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
• Experience Required: Minimum of 18 months recent and permanent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Licensing: Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
• Certifications: AHA BLS & ACLS required
• Holiday Work: Must be available to work at least every other holiday
• Assessments: ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate testing during orientation (passing score required)
• PBDS Assessment waived

Required Experience

• Specialty Experience: At least 18 months in Med/Surg Telemetry nursing (recent and permanent)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications & Competencies

• Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Testing: Pass/fail ECG and medication dosing tests during orientation
• Competency Exams: Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
• Other Preferred (not required):

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Licensing & Background Checks

• Must have a valid Ohio nursing license or compact state license
• Background check required prior to start, including:

  • FCRA compliant 7-year search
  • SSN trace, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG monthly checks
• Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required within 12 months of start and updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
• State-specific fingerprint attestation required

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Onboarding & Orientation

• Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Modules include safety manual acknowledgement and facility-specific training
• Pass/fail testing (ECG and medication) completed onsite during orientation
• Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during assignment

Additional Requirements

• Employment application must include 3 years of prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area
• Two professional references required from recent employment (within 1 year), from supervisors or managers only
• Candidates must be prepared to complete all required documentation and assessments before starting

Summary

This is a night shift travel RN position in Med/Surg Telemetry requiring a minimum of 18 months recent and permanent experience in the specialty, Ohio or compact state nursing license, current BLS and ACLS certifications, and compliance with extensive health, background, and onboarding requirements. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks.
